Workplace in the Metaverse

The Covid-19 Pandemic clearly changed the way we work. While remote work was on the rise pre-2020, it’s now at least part of the new normal. But zoom meetings and Jackbox TV games have nothing on what’s to come… The new frontier of work (and more) is the metaverse—a digital world where avatars of real people can interact, work, and live.
How will the Metaverse influence the future of work-life? And how is it already changing the way people work? That’s what we’re here to explore.
Virtual Work
The metaverse is characterized by highly interactive digital experiences. It’s already a reality in the gaming world, but it’s not just for teens. Workers are participating in the metaverse with virtual meeting spaces and team events.
While the pandemic created a segmented, lonelier workflow, the metaverse is bringing socialization back into people’s 9-to-5. Even if it is in virtual realities, employees can still connect, brainstorm, and communicate more similarly to how they would have face-to-face. And, in the future, perhaps more uniquely. In fact, industry-unique settings are already being created in the metaverse. For instance, architects can explore 3D renderings of structures together in a virtual setting and art lovers can navigate virtual galleries of NFTs. The options are seemingly endless.
Roblox, one of the chief gaming companies at the forefront of the metaverse created a virtual version of their headquarters during the pandemic for meetings and even had a metaverse-hosted holiday party.
Facebook—now, aptly named Meta—is one of the companies looking to lead the way in the metaverse as well. And it’s already doing so with a virtual reality meeting platform, complete with cartoon avatars.
Microsoft is yet another company that is hosting metaverse meetings for remote workers. But these aren’t the only current players in the game, and there will certainly be more to join. As companies both big and small seek to build segments of a virtual world, more will certainly jump on the bandwagon… especially if virtual economies are at stake.
An Opportunity for Investors?
This next generation of the internet is the buzziest topic in tech right now, and investors’ ears are ringing. According to some analysts, the metaverse could represent a $1T market by the end of the decade. This could be a goldmine, or it could be the next big thing that goes bust. But one thing is for certain: companies and investors are putting a lot of money into the metaverse. One way to get a stake in the game is through verified investing, which enables private companies to publicly solicit for funds and accredited investors to invest in them.
If you’re a company looking to obtain funding through general solicitation, learn how to verify accredited investors through a third party. VerifyInvestor.com will ensure all investors are fully accredited, meeting the federal requirement of taking “reasonable steps” to verify their investor status.
And if you’re an investor, consider becoming accredited to invest in smaller private players, or learn more about the major players in the metaverse already.
